I'm walking down to a client in town to pick up a cheque and deposit it at my banks Martin Place branch - the big brown building with the four columns - the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The young lady behind the counter asks how to pronounce my surname. I tell her that my surname is polish and that it is pronounced Gruschka, with a soft ess-zee-h. While inputing my cheque into the system she mentions that her parents emigrated from Albania to Australia and that she finds english pronunciation confusing. I walk home through the sunny streets. A bird flies past me, looking rather serious.  •• A virtual tour of the Commonwealth Bank Martin Place branch.
